2018 has kicked off with a whole lot of great kickstarter games. Nemesis from Awaken Realms adn Tiny Epic Zombies by Gamelyn Games locked up huge campaigns! One reason why we back Kickstarter games is for awesome mimis. Ending this week February 26 to March 2 there are some really great looking games with unique minis you shodul check out!
Have you backed any of these? What miniature or skirmish game are you most excited about right now?
Planet Apocalypse from Sandy Peterson Game
Ends February 26 9pm – Funded – An exciting co-op board game in which post-apocalypse heroes confront the hordes of Hell. Why we love it: We’re big fans of Sandy Peterson’s Call of Cthulhu role playing game. This game carries that same apocalyptic horror theme and look with a TON of amazing miniatures. Bonus that it’s got a solo game mode already available!
Core pledge is $99USD, but a Hellhound ($299USD) level gets you everything available. 1-5 players, 14+, 60-90 mins. Kickstarter Campaign Details Here.
Agents of Mayhem: Pride of Babylon from Academy Games
Ends February 27 11:20am – Funded – Pride of Babylon is a story-driven 3D tactical board game based on the newest video game in the Saint’s Row universe - Agents of Mayhem. Just like the video games the content is rated PG13, but there is $5 add-on Family pack to replace a bunch of the cards and make it more family friendly. Why we love it: This game has fast skirmish action along with character progression and customization. The standard game is 2-4 players and it’s got expansion decks that can turn it into a solo game or co-op game. The best part – a 3D board with stacking tiles that can be customized. While a departure from Academy Games’ historical line, they produce some fantastic games and we expect the quality of this one to be high.
Core pledge is $90USD. We’d recommend backing at the Agent’ Field Pack ($135USD) level or higher to get the KS exclusive expansion teams. 1-4 players, 16+, 30-90 mins. Kickstarter Campaign Details Here.
Laruna: Age of Kingdoms from ODAM Publishing LLC
Ends March 2 12pm – Funded – A thematic high-fantasy 4x (explore, expand, exploit, exterminate) with high levels of social interaction brought to you by the creators of The Shared Dream. Why we love it: Huge 24”x36” world map board. 71 fantasy style miniatures ranging from 35mm up to 100mm! The Kickstarter campaign has two unlocked expansions. We’re pretty excited about this one being a 4X game, with miniatures and having a solo play mode!
Core pledge is $85USD, but if you go All-in for $150 you get the two expansions including 12 more minis, a dragon miniature and a queen statue mini. 1-6 players, 15+, 120-240 mins. Kickstarter Campaign Details Here.
Blackwater Gultch: Minions and Monsters from Gangfight Games
Ends March 6 10pm – 80% Funded – Blackwater Gulch is a Western Horror Skirmish Game, set in a late 1800's alternate world where things certainly do go bump in the night. This is the second edition introducing new miniatures to the game. Why we love it: The Western-Horror mashup is a pretty cool theme for a skirmish game. There’s some great storylines and unique terrain you could develop for this game. It’s great to see unique theme skirmish games growing. These minis have a ton of potential, in game or for use with other tabletop adventures. I kind of want to take the Cursed miniatures and make an Undead Horror Guild Ball team. Think White Walkers come to the Free Cities.
The pledges vary based on miniature sets you want. $6USD gets you’re a single solo hero, $18 gets you a set of Minions or Monsters. If you’re new to the game and want a full experience the Newcomer pledge at $95USD gets you the core rulebook. Kickstarter Campaign Details Here.
Alphas: A Superhero Miniatures Game from Kid Loves Tiger Games
Ends March 15 12pm – 95% Funded – Alphas is a tactical superhero themed game with Graphic Novels, a Progressive Story, Objective Skirmishes & Highly Detailed Miniatures! Why we love it: This game has the style and feel of Arcadia Quest minis or Super Dungeon Explore. It comes with 25 unique hero miniatures and 3D terrain. Looks great for kids and family play. The story based play through graphic novels also seems really fun. Created by the same team as Tabula Rasa.
Core pledge is $90USD. 2-4 players, 9+, 30-60 mins. Kickstarter Campaign Details Here.
Happy Gaming,
Scott
